Wedding Planning Timeline
Key Steps for Planning a Wedding
Get organised and arrange your marriage in one year or even one month with my wedding planning timeline.

OK, the longer you have to plan your big day, the easier (not to mention less stressful!)
it can be. But you CAN organise the whole thing in just a few months just like I did if you are clear about the steps
for planning a wedding, and also if you are prepared to make some compromises along the way, for speed if nothing else!
Wedding Planning Calendar
Here's a simple wedding planning timeline. Follow the links on related pages below for
more detail like a complete wedding planning checklist.
-
First, set your wedding date
This will depend on when you can get a slot at either the church or registry office (without it you can't get married!)
and also when there is availability at your reception venue.
Book the marriage and reception venues at the same time and
you have the two most important pieces of the jigsaw complete!
-
Next find out lead times
How long do you need to allow for all the things you want to include on your big day like getting a dress made
(you may have to buy off the shelf if going for the one month planning option),
ordering or making
your own invitations, buying rings, having meetings with photographers and florists (though it is cheaper to find
a friend or relative to do this for you) and so on.
-
Make a wedding planning list
Put a date beside each key "task" working backwards from your
chosen marriage date. Some tasks you can delegate to other people like your mum, your best friend(s) or your
husband-to-be! Don't be afraid to enlist help from others with hidden talents, like your mum's neighbour who
happens to be a dab hand at flower arranging as she does the church flowers every week.
-
Remember to allow enough time for everything
If you are working, you may only have weekends to spend time shopping for things like rings. But most wedding
suppliers know that clients sometimes need to contact them at strange hours so give them a ring and see if you
can arrange a meeting after work or first thing in the morning.
Basic wedding planning timeline complete?
Take a step back and ask yourself if all this is feasible, especially if you are planning to do some
aspects of the wedding DIY, which could potentially take more time.
Happy?
Next comes the fun part of
making all those things on your wedding planning list happen.
To keep you smiling along the way, make sure you take your checklist with you.
