If you have your own PC, you can print your own wedding invitations. DIY has never been easier.

Most PC's come with a simple built in graphics package these days. If not, you can buy software for just a few dollars.

If you download software from the internet, make sure the software has a free trial version so you can try before you buy.

Open up your graphics package and see if it comes with any ready made cards eg. ones for special occasions...like a wedding! Don't worry if it doesn't, all you need to start is a blank screen.

Printing your own cheap wedding stationery

  • First, either find a card design you like and open it or choose a graphic (a picture or image within your package) to place onto your blank sheet.

  • If you don't like the image you have chosen, you can change it by "inserting" a picture from either a file you already have on your PC or by looking online. For example, the wedding invitation above was made using Microsoft Publisher and this programme has thousands of other pictures available to download online.

  • Next choose a font for the writing on the card. There are lots to choose from so take a good look through the various styles and choose one in keeping with your overall wedding theme eg. a modern clear font like Comic Sans MS or a more ornate one like Brush Script for an old fashioned theme.

  • If you don't want a picture, then consider using a photograph. NB: the quality of a printed photograph may not be as good as a graphic picture depending on the type of printer you have.

  • Type out your invite in your chosen font then preview your design. You may need to change your printer settings to get the card to print out exactly as you want.

  • Insert other pages into your card as required to show the venue, time etc. If you have a card design option in your graphics package, this is easy as you simply choose the number of pages you want.

  • Done all that. Happy? Off you go and print out your wedding invitations DIY!
