Wedding Cake Frosting Recipe

Our wedding cake frosting recipe makes it easy to ice your own cake.
Ingredients: (Vanilla Icing)
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 3 cups icing sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How to Make Frosting
1 Put all ingredients into a bowl and beat well.
2 Check consistency of the vanilla frosting. It should be smooth and easy
to spread. If not, add more icing sugar.
The above recipe is a simple way to make vanilla icing as it does not have any eggs.
For a richer and slightly more difficult fondant topping, try this recipe.
Ingredients: (Royal Icing)
- 3 egg whites
- 1 pound icing sugar
- ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
How to Make Icing
1 Make sure all utensils are free from grease.
2 Lightly beat the egg whites.
3 Sift together icing sugar and cream of tartar.
4 Place everything in a food processor and beat for around 7 minutes until the
icing forms soft peaks.
NB: You may need to alter the amount of sugar depending on the size of your egg whites and
how much moisture is in your icing sugar.
There are, of course, many other recipes for icing or fondant to top your wedding cake,
but these are the easiest and most consistent recipes we have tried and tested on our own cakes to date.
