Seasonal Wedding Flowers
Choose wisely to keep costs down
Control your flower budget by choosing seasonal wedding flowers.

If you want to have fresh flowers on your wedding day, go for seasonal blooms only.
That may mean making some compromises if you have your heart set on a particular type of
flower as some popular flowers are only available in certain seasons.
But there are so many beautiful blooms to choose from, there is bound to be something seasonal that wiill fit perfectly with your theme and wedding budget.
Wedding Flowers by Season
Of course, many flowers are available all year round either through cultivation under glass or via
import from other countries. But this comes at a cost.
The cheapest way to obtain the best wedding flowers is still to buy locally and
choose what is in season.
Luckily, popular flowers like orchids, roses, lilies and gerberas or daisies are available pretty much all year.
Spring Wedding Flowers
Spring brings forth a burst of color and gorgeous bulbs spring into life like colorful daffodils and
tulips. The latter look stately, soft and serene and almost need no other accompanying flower or foliage, as seen in this simple
bouquet.
Other popular spring flowers are expensive peonies and the equally expensive lily of the valley,
revered for its wonderful scent.
See our list of flowers by season for more spring flower ideas.
Summer Wedding Flowers
Summer is the most popular time for getting married, not least because the weather is usually
more predictable. The widest choice of flowers comes in summer in all shapes, sizes
and colors from sweet scented freesias to vibrant fuschias, sweet peas and the coveted
Calla lily.
Roses are highly popular for many brides and they are also great value for money.
They also grow well in many gardens so speak nicely to your friends and neighbours if you are
thinking of doing your own flowers!
Autumn Wedding Flowers
A Fall wedding simply calls out for oranges, yellows and reds. There are vibrant dahlias
available and roses are still plentiful. Mix hydrangeas with tall red hot pokers or seasonal
fruits like apples or even pumpkin for a colorful feast for the eyes.
Winter Wedding Flowers
Don't think that a winter wedding means a limited choice of flowers.
You have a beautiful range of deeply colored blooms like amaryllis pictured here which look
spectacular in table decorations with their long elegant stems.
Holly is also widely available and variegated leaves fit beautifully alongside other winter blooms
or simply use the rich red berries on your table centerpieces.
