• Believe it or not you CAN make a simple stacked cake if you try. It's easy to buy different sized molds in all basic shapes like squares or rounds. The tough part is the "icing" but we show you how to make icing here.

• No time to make your own? Ok Cheat a little! Pop down to your local store, buy a few ready made sponge cakes. Fill with cream and cover with icing.

  But don't expect it to taste as good as a homemade one!

• The simplest and probably cheapest way to a tiered cake of your dreams is to buy a couple of cake stands, make a stack of cupcakes and do some cake arranging!

  Tip: You only need to arrange a few cupcakes on the stands. The rest can be laid around the cake and on the table beside it.
