• Save money on your groceries - make a list of meals that you will prepare for the week and ONLY buy the ingredients that you need. Stick to it and avoid buying those "nice to have items" that tempt you in the supermarket aisle. This tip will stop you throwing away out of date food, I guarantee it.

• Make your own cards and presents and save $$$'s! You don't have to be arty but "crafty" girls know how to make or print their own cards using kits forms or their PC and homemade gifts are SO much more personable than shop-bought items.

• Stop buying a daily coffee. If you add up the amount of money spent on expensive cups of coffee every day, you can save $100's if not $1,000''s of dollars depending on how much coffee you consume.

• Make your own lunch. Yes, this can be time consuming but once you get into the routine, it only takes a few minutes just before going to bed and a home made sandwich or salad is much healthier AND much cheaper.

  Tip: For ultra fresh sandwiches, freeze pitta breads, take one out of the freezer before you have a shower, pop it in the toaster to warm up before adding your favourite filling and wrapping in foil ready for an ultra-fresh sandwich lunch.
